Honest and knowlegeable service. Will not oversell.
These are the best mechanics I have ever dealt with. I live in New York City and drive up to Maine each year for service. They have extended the life of my Outback (1999) and it runs like a charm. Everyone at Lake Region Imports is helpful, knowledgeable, professional, friendly; in a word, AMAZING. I would recommend Lake Region Imports to anyone with a Subaru; too bad I have to drive 6 hours to get this kind of service!!!
We have two Subaru's in our family. We drive 50 minutes each way to get our Subaru's serviced at Lake Region, passing, on the way, an authorized Subaru dealership. We have purchased both of our Subaru's, used, from Lake Region Imports, and have always felt comfortable with these purchases. The staff at Lake Region Imports is always friendly, agreeable and patient. I say patient because sometimes they need to go to extra lengths to explain my car's problems to me so that I can understand. They do this well, sometimes even drawing pictures so that I can visualize the problem! There are no pressure sales at Lake Region. They tell you what needs to be done, what kind of time frame, but never do any work that doesn't need to be done. I always leave Lake Region in a good mood, even after I've written big checks! Its a long trip from where I live, but well worth it!
I purchased a 2005 Subaru Forester a couple months ago from lake region imports and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. The credit union that I was using for the auto loan actually referred me and I so glad they did. It's funny because a good friend came up to me and said I should come to lake region imports without knowing I just purchased my car from here. Family owned I have had nothing but positive experiences. The guys here have been attentive to all needs for my car (big and small). I look forward to many more years work with lake region imports and eventually purchasing my new Subaru with them. I will not go anywhere else and urge people to check it out. You have peace of mind knowing and dealing with the honesty and intergrity. I have no more car worries and know I am in good hands here!
On December 8, I needed to take my car in to Lake Region Imports for an oil change and the replacement of a headlight and a rear light. Everything went as scheduled, and as usual, I was very pleased with the time, the work. They are always upfront about what needs to be done to my older Subarus (this is my 4th or 5th from them and we have another one at home) - no surprises. Whenever I've had an urgent repair, I've been able to take my Subarus to Lake Region immediately. I've recommended them and will continue to do so without hesitation. Thanks, Guys!!
Easily the best car buying experience that either my wife or I have ever had. They held up everthing they told us and more. My wife said she felt like she was ripping them off after we left. They specialize in looking over every detail before they sell and I believe they did just that. Our car has been perfect. Honest people who take pride in what they do.
I would suggest that if you are looking for any used car, any car. I would not buy without looking here first.
We also put remote starts in both our cars about 2 months ago. We called around everywhere and they were the chepaest by about 75$ so we went back and again my wife came home saying she felt like they were just great people. How often do you deal with car salesmen or repairmen and have a positive feeling when you leave?
I plan on living on the east coast for only 1 more year, but if I were to stay I would never buy a car from anywhere else.
Great place, great people. Period.
I drive an '01 Subaru Outback that until recently had never needed any work. I am new to the area so when my check engine light came on last month I took it to the first place that turned up in a Google search for Subaru repair- which happened to be another dealership. They determined from a diagnostic test that my car needed close to $2500 (for genuine Subaru parts, not aftermarket parts) worth of repairs to replace several parts including the catalytic converter, trail arm bushings (which could have been made up parts for all I knew...) and part of the exhaust system. Having a family friend in the area I asked for a suggestion for another body shop and was referred to Lake Region Imports.
As they also work exclusively with Subarus, they recognized from my description of the diagnostic test that Subaru catalytic converters rarely need replacing and often they simply need a small modification to keep them running smoothly. As for the exhaust, I think LRI replaced only a valve which cost about $20. I know NOTHING about cars or car repair so this sounded too good to be true. The so-called trail arm bushings did need to be replaced which was the bulk of the final cost, but still reasonable.
Well, I am hoping it is not too soon to sing Lake Region's praises, as they only gave me my car back yesterday, but my car is running much more smoothly than before, and the total bill was $430...a cool $2100 less than I was quoted at the first place I took the car. I'll update this review if something goes horribly wrong, but I am feeling confident that this place knows what they are doing... and they have been in business for 30 years which says something.
I will continue to take my Subaru there for any maintenance as will my Subaru-driving boyfriend!
I have been doing business with Lake Region Imports for around ten years now both to service my vehicles and also to purchase two vehicles. They have always been professional, honest, knowledgable and friendly. That's saying a lot these days. They have earned my repeat business time and time again and I can highly recommend them without any hesitation.
I have been a Lake Region Imports customer for 11 years and have been extremely pleased with the sales, service, and body shop. The key to owning any vehicle is the return visits. Lake Region Imports service department gets the job done correctly and always asks the customer if they are satisfied. I would highly recommend that you visit them!
"Car is running great, smooth & quiet as can be. The loud resonating at 45-50mph is gone, no more thumping when taking off. Glad you called about the used drive shaft. That more than cut my costs in half, and I got a deal on that rear cup holder from the same parts car!
You, Dan, and the others certainly know your Subaru's in and out. I also enjoyed observing your interactions with the other customers who came in for service or called with issues. It's very obvious you go to great lengths to find the most cost-effective solution to repairs without compromising quality.
Happy New Year, you certainly have won my future business."

All my family own Subaru's and this is the only place where we will bring them to have repair work done. The individuals working here are honest, dependable and efficient. In today's world it's hard to find a workshop like this. I recommend Lake Region Imports to every Subaru owner and anyone who's interested in purchasing a vehicle, especially Subarus.Stewart P.
I have owned three Subaru's, that I purchased through Lake Region Imports. They are my only go to, for all my Subaru needs - buying, selling and all repairs and servicing. They are knowledgeable, honest, dependable and friendly.
They will never recommend service that does not need to be done, and will give honest assessments on when certain maintenance/replacements NEED to be done if I'm tight on money and can't do it this very minute.
